ALL NIGHT NIPPON staring Shigeaki Kato, Nishikido Ryo and Yamashita Tomohisa November 15th, 2007

Shige: Good evening this is NEWS’ Shigeaki Kato!
Yamapi: This is Yamashita!
Ryo: I’m Nishikido Ryo!
Yamapi?: Yay!
Shige: This is it, the three of us hosting a special ALL NIGHT NIPPON. Though normally Oguri Shun hosts it every week. Today we’ll be borrowing this time and doing it!
Yamapi: Ganbarimasu.
Shige: I wonder if it’s okay..?
Ryo: How would I know.

Ryo and Yamapi start talking about how they’ve done it before [this was with Uchi] so they’re not worried. But Shige is worried about it so asked the “staff” for previous episodes to listen to (Yamapi: You studied them?) and then… here it comes, ALREADY less than one minute in the program Shige is picked on, haha.
Ryo hassles him about saying “staff”, saying normally people at least say “staff-san” or ‘everyone from the staff’.

NEWS’ ALL NIGHT NIPPON
*insert ANN intro music*

Show starts and Shige & Yamapi are talking about how excited they are and stuff, Shige is the lead. Shige says it was kind of a dream of his and he’d like to try his best. However then comments while he’s talking “Nishikido-kun, please don’t look at me with cold eyes like that” Ryo denies it saying he’ll do his best too. The three start talking about how they have to have fun in these two hours and Yamapi casually comments it’s not that long with commercials (LOL, true true).

They advertise for weeeek and pacific which came out last week a bit. Shige says “SKN” which confuses both Ryo and Yamapi ut he explains it’s an abbreviation for Single Kinen News [Single Commemoration NEWS]

Next move announce mail theme for the week for listeners, this week’s theme is Tell us NEWS’ weeeek [weak] point! “Anything!”
Ryo clarifies that the meaning of their weeeek single isn’t weak, but one week period.

They give their e-mail address and wait for mail.

Talk about how weeeek was written by GReeeeN and is a positive cheering song about doing your best throughout the week.

Shige says “stop addressing me with “san” and stuff please” and Ryo laughs. Ryo then talks about how no one calls Shige “Kato”, it’s just Shige and Yamapi agrees. Yet him and Yamapi are mainly referred to as “Yamashita” and “Nishikido” which is kind of sad, Shige commenting “Yea it’s like Yamashita-kun and Nishikido-sama”. Ryo likes the -sama idea, LOL.
Ryo comments that sometimes Yamapi will just call him “Nishikido” and it’s sad/lonely since he’s normally called Ryo-chan. The first mail is in.

Listener wrote in saying that she’s been looking forward to the show and has found a weak point. NEWS’ weak point is that Shige is always picked on for “oyaji kusai” (smelling like an old man/being like an old man). She says that while he probably doesn’t actually, because everyone says it it’ll then seem like he does. She then tells Ryo and Yamapi please not to say that about Shige.
Ryo and Yamapi try to explain themselves but you can’t smell over the radio (lol). Nishikido clarifies that lately Shige’s gotten a lot better (looks younger with haircut), but in the past… well, then Shige comments he even used to think that of himself.
Yamapi says that being adult/mature-like is good, but Nishikido comments that might be so but stinking like an old man isn’t.
They keep trying to explain themselves but eventually wind down and Yamapi restates that “Well the listener told us not to say it anymore” to which Ryo comments “I don’t really say it!” and Yamapi agrees, he doesn’t really say it either… wait, isn’t this just Koyama!? They realize when Koyama’s in a bind he’ll just start picking on Shige, calling him an old man. Ryo and Yamapi ask Shige how that’s like and he comments even though his heart is glass it’s pretty harsh to which Yamapi responds by claiming that “heart of glass” an old man thing to say (LOL).
RyoPi start teasing Shige that he should tell Koyama if it really bothers him and coming up with lines for him to say but Shige’s just like ‘He hasn’t said it recently’.. and is ignored, lol.

Yamapi’s turn to say what he thinks Ryo’s weak point is, but he’s not sure. Mentions he’s shy alone, like if it’s just the two of them in the car he won’t say anything mean(?). Ryo doesn’t want to talk about he weak points it because it’s embarrassing so it moves on to Ryo’s view of Yamapi’s waek point.

Some talk about he’s no good without his cellphone and Shige moves on to say Yamapi messes up the choreography at concerts. Also he’s always in the center. Yamapi apolgies saying since he was a junior he’s always been in the center, and Ryo’s just like “Even during the real thing, I’m always teaching him what to do! Like “P! Over here, over here, over here.” Even at the Taiwan concert” and Shige comments “Even though Nishikido-kun doesn’t even come to rehersal” and Ryo proudly says “Yeah, but I remember! I’m a genius, right!?”

NEWS CHALLENGE! GOOD FRIEND BOX.
…Which Ryo thinks is embarrassing just from the intro music.

They have to split in groups and then will be given a task to help their unity as a group, haha.

Ryo & Yamapi first
The challenge is giving a back massage xD; Ryo gives it to Yamapi and comments Yamapi has more muscle than he used to. Yamapi’s then like “A little lower” (LOL totally into it xD;) Ryo then comments “Wow, you’ve really gotten manlier” and Shige’s like “Wow this image is disgusting LOL Yamapi’s in a tanktop too…” And they’re all laughing about how Yamapi took off his jacket, like he wanted a real back massage XD;

Yamapi comments he doesn’t like people touching his ears lol, so he’s does it for Shige. They freak out for a LONG time over this trying to do it, haha. Yamapi keeps commenting about how he’s good at this and Ryo’s like “Is his ear dirty?” but it’s not. XD;; They all keep cracking up and Ryo comments Shige’s face is totally red.

‘When it comes to happy couples it’s definitely eating pudding and saying “Ahh~”. Please do this’
Do we even have pudding? they ask LOL. And then it’s commented how ridiculously stupid the whole thing is and can’t decide who will eat which (there are two pudding) xD;; There’s spaz over the fact that the pudding is jiggly and then Ryo’s like “OK Shige~” and Yamapi keeps saying “Make sure to say Ahh, say it” so Shige’s like “Ryo-chan~” but they all crack up because Shige’s left handed & Ryo is right so they collide XD;; They get it eventually though (I think they both feed each other a spoon of pudding simulataneously, like couples do in movies).
In the end Ryo ends up just eating his pudding ^^; and the good relation box is over.

Reintroduction of tonight’s theme (Oh yeah, remember that? haha) and they answer another mail.

Next mail asks them about how they seem higher than everyone (as pop stars kinda thing) so do they have any stories of being poor.
They mention how they just ride the trains and stuff normally, which leads into talk about difficulty with train tickets and different train lines. Especially Ryo who doesn’t know the lines around Tokyo as well.
Ryo then brings up having a sad lunch at school and Shige comments he had that issue too, like a cram school everyone would have a hand made bento but he’d just have one from the convience store. They then pick on him saying “Is that poor?!” because bento from the convinence store are expensive (lol).
Yamapi then talks about how he rarely has money on him, like today he only has about 30 bucks. Ryo tells a story about when he recently went to Harajuku and only had 8 yen (like 5 cents).

Next: You all have a smart image, wouldn’t is be better if there was a more exciting/lively character?
[This is a totally personal comment but... wasn't that Kusano XD;;;]
They start talking about how different people act when they’re eating, and the Yamapi comments he gets excited when going to the bath and stuff. Shige then mentions that for some reason Yamapi never locks the door when he goes to the bathroom and Yamapi is just like “Whatever” but Shige insists on the topic and says he even does it at studios. Yamapi still doesn’t care but Shige claims that it’s not just NEWS that uses them and staff & such do too, women! Yamapi realizes maybe it’s not a good idea then, haha.

Next: From Saitama Prefecture Nao-san who says she’s happy that pacific and weeeek were a double release. She comments “Aren’t their too many scaredy cats in NEWS?” [I think this is what they mean]
They talk about how Yamapi is the one least of a scaredy cat, he can’t think of anything he’s scared of. Ryo is scared but doesn’t give off the image of being so, but is open about that fact he’s scared of things (lol).
Ryo wonders about Shige and asks him what he’s scared of, to which Shige comments “I’m most scared of people. Antropophobia… kind of” and everyone laughs. He goes on to say he’s just really bad the first time he meets people and such. Shige’s also totally freaked out by catepillars. Ryo agrees they’re disgusting, a comments like “Are you okay with cockroaches and stuff?” which Shige is, but Ryo responds that they scare him xD;
Ryo then tells how when he lived with his parents if a bug showed up in his room he’d be like “DAAAAAAAAAAAAD!” even when he was 20 years old (LOL).
They all really get into talking about how disgusting bugs are and such but eventually move on so Ryo can introduce his solo.

Next letter: “Have you ever had a lonly Christmas eve? Please tell us”
Yamapi says that he’s got a 3 person family (Mom, him and little sister) so he always has them, but when he was little what made him the most sad was how small their cake was- to which Ryo and Shige crack up. But as they keep talking about how small it was Ryo’s like “Actually, this is pretty sad” XD;

Shige brings up the topic of “Did you guys decorate for Christmas with your family” and Ryo enthusiastically answers. He and his siblings would only get cake on birthdays and Christmas and they’d make like origami that said “merry christmas” and stuff. They talk about how that sounds fun but Yamapi never did it XD;
Yamapi continues on about how he doesn’t really like Christmas, doesn’t have any special memories of it or anything so he kind of ignores it. Shige mentions it’s more normal to ignore Halloween but Ryo’s like “What! I totally did Halloween!” and encourages Shige & Yamapi to do it sometime because they’ll totally have fun. Topic of Halloween in DisneyLand comes up and Shige comments girl’s try too hard to be cute(?) and Ryo’s like “They’re cute though!” and the conversation winds down to Yamapi saying “Well, I don’t really like Christmas”

Next question from a reader is: “Tell us a dangerous episode of yours” it continues to elaborate how she recently found a bunch of erotic books in her little brother’s room and told her mom and her mom was like “Well, he’s a boy. They have these things, don’t forget it!”
Yamapi’s just like “Yea… isn’t this normal?” and Shige asks “Ok when’d everyone get their first book then?” and Yamapi comments he was early because he studied them (…what?! XD) and Shige’s like “Oh studying huh?” and Ryo’s like “HOT DOG PRESS!!” (perverted magazine). Yamapi then admits it was sometime around 6th grade. Shige was 7th grade.
Ryo then realizes he was REALLLY early, LOL. And his dad would have them in the car and stuff XD; From the lower half of elementary school on he’d have one but put a different manga in it so that he wouldn’t get in trouble.
Yamapi talks about how after he got caught once in middle school with them he never brought them home again because since he lived with 2 woman it’s just weird.

Next: “NEWS’ weak point might be that you’re all too honor student like”
Ryo’s like “Well yeah, almost all of you going to college and all” XD;;
They try and think of “bad” stories about them and Yamapi’s like “Well in 12th grade since my birthday’s early I had my driver’s liscense when we went on a school trip to Hokkaido, and during the free time me and my friends borrowed one of the cars”
Shige: “… that’s not bad at all LOL”
Yamapi tries to defend his story saying it was inconsiderate and stuff, but ^^;;;
The topic of whether they ever went in the girl’s rooms during trips like that, and Yamapi is like “Well I wanted to but the teachers were too strict” and they all spaz about that and the girls in yukata a bit.

Next: “NEWS weak point is that no one has experienced having a shaved head. Even in Johnny’s these days people are doing it”
Yamapi says “I never had a shaved head, but I had it cut to 5 cm once” but Shige and Ryo just laugh, because that’s pretty long XD;
They talk about how if it was for work they might do it but otherwise…
Then Ryo’s like “Oh, what about Sugata Sanshirou?” and Shige just replies ‘He doesn’t have a shaved head’ and Ryo spazzes “What?! You’re doing that with your stylish hair?!” and Shige defends himself saying it’s messed up a lot in the drama.

Next: “Have the people of NEWS been through hardtimes, like having tried a part time job or something?”
Ryo, Shige and Yamapi haven’t but Ryo’s like “Didn’t Koyama do something at a supermarket or something?” and Shige replies “He did, but he quit after one day” (LOL Koyama)
Ryo talks about how before he was in NEWS he had a lot of free time and sometimes would help somewhere but he didn’t get paid, would just get tshirts and stuff but he was happy with that.
Yamapi comments it might be cool to try working at a convience store or gas station.

They’ll talk about something related to different song names for 30 second each, the songs picked randomly.

Yamapi: Nanto ka narusa -> A time when things didn’t work out
1. When he was in the bathroom and didn’t lock the door and his manager came in
2. What he mentioned before, in middle school when his mom found him with erotic books

Yamapi says the song Nanto ka narusa is a song to listen to during times like those XD

Ryo: Ai no matador -> Your thoughts/memories on cows
Ryo says he hates milk so wouldn’t drink it and had yogurt every morning instead. Also he went to see bull fighting in Spain and was moved by the small fighters versus the cows and thinks it’s cool.
They then clarify that matador is tougyuu (in Japanese).
Yamapi: “You’ve went to Spain?”
Ryo: “Yeah!”
Shige: “Seriously?”
Ryo: “Really!”
Shige: “For work or something?”
Ryo: “…I haven’t actually been, sorry”
LOL what the heck boys…

Shige says he doesn’t normally go for suspense stuff but if he has to pick someone probably Hama Mike because he’s really a man amoung men. As time is about to run out Shige’s like “And uh… uh.. oh! Oh! Kurosagi! Kurosagi! KUROSAGI!”
Yamapi and Ryo question is Kurosagi is a detective XD

Segment is winding down when Shige says “staff” again and RyoPi criticize him for having an attitude XD; Ryo’s like “You definitely say this to your friends! “Yamapi was like…” or like “Nishikido is seriously obnoxious!” and stuff like that! Shige’s laughing but tries to defend himself commenting he never says things like that but then wonders if he’s thought of that way (as someone who complains about others in secret kinda thing). Ryo’s like “I think of you as like that” to which Shige responds “EE?!” and Ryo’s like “No no… yes” and Yamapi tries to finally wrap up the segment.

Ryo’s recent birthday is brought up and he comments nothing’s changed since become 23 and since becoming 20 the years seem to pass by faster and faster.

Next question from listener: “NEWS weak point is there’s no one totally into something like a maniac. Do you have anyone who’s Akibakei, totally into games or girls or something?”
They don’t really think so, though Shige comments he reads a lot of manga but wouldn’t consider himself a maniac. Yamapi brings up Dragon Ball and they’ve all read it, but the Yamapi mentions he’s seen all the anime because he bought the box set. Shige and Ryo are kind of shocked because it’s realllllly expensive.

They decide to change the topic to “What won’t you loose to other members in”.
Ryo says for him it’s TV wires, connecting them and stuff, he starts talking about it and stuff… but Shige’s like “Oh yea.” and “I know” and Ryo’s like “Wait you know all this too?” and Shige explains he likes it too and deals with his TV himself and stuff. Ryo seems disappointed xD
Yamapi says though that him and the others can’t connect to that conversation though, Shige comments that was good (using connect in a sentence about how him and the others don’t get that stuff… like the wires connect… it’s kinda stupid haha).
For Shige he says it might be photography, since he’s really into and though he was bad at first is getting a lot better.
Yamapi’s is… nothing. “Nothing!” Shige’s like, “Something that you’ve been really into during some point of your life”, Yamapi replies nothing but comments he does like the ocean. And in STAND UP! he played a character that was totally into trains and knew everything, though he doesn’t remember it anymore.
They try and think about other members and Tegoshi comes up XD; He’s totally into watching/following sports. Shige comments that Tegoshi says he watches everyday and even if Tegoshi comes to his house he’ll be like “Is it okay if we watch some sports?” and stuff like that.

Shige introduces the song as him and Koyama’s duet from the DVD.

The topic of the winter concert tour comes up and they name some of the first dates. They’re looking forward to it and hope it’s great and such.
Shige then shamelessly pimps his upcoming drama special Sugata Sanshirou and Yamapi brings up the Kurosagi film. They laugh some about how Shige isn’t done filming for his show Dec 6th but Yamapi is done for a March release.
Ryo is a little down making a comment “I don’t have anything” but Yamapi’s like “What! You have Kanjani8!”
…Ryo replied “Oh, yea…” sad sounding which cracks Shige and Yamapi up. Ryo then comments he plays guitar at home XD;

They thank everyone for all the mail sent today.

Silly dramatic saying of “ASHITA KARA MATA NICHI GETSU KA MATA SUI MOKU” etc from weeeek to bring back ANN from the commericials.

Shige: This ANN brought to you by Kato, Nishikido and Yamashita is finally ending! So the ending theme is going to be weeeek I think. It’s already ending–!
They talk about how it went by fast and was pretty fun. Ryo says it’s thanks to Shige’s great lead but then Shige replies “You’re just trying to sound like a nice person now…” which Ryo denies laughing xD;; Yamapi concludes “I guess then NEWS has no weak points!”. Everyone agrees they’ll keep doing their best and there’s some implying of maybe Shige is NEWS’ weak point but they’re like “No no not really” but Shige wonders if he’s being tricked. Ryo and Yamapi thank him again and it’s commented that surprisingly the three of them were fun together…. even if now at the end it’s kinda feeling weird XD;

They thank everyone for listening to the end and it’s bye bye!
