“Lately even when I go out to eat I find myself staring at the resturant workers’ work. I do the cooking scenes without a stand-in so I practice how to use a knife.” The resturant set is so detailed and real that “It’s too big, you could get lost in there!”.

Uchi takes on the role of a modern kid who admires ‘real’ cooking and goes to work as a cook at the long establish resturant owned by Osen who is played by Aoi Yu (22 years old). “I’m finally getting used to this outfit. At first putting on the tabi could take some time but now I can just slip them right on!” Although until now he’s always just been the one eating, it seems he’s come to understand the feelings and troubles of those who cook. “I really love my mom’s cooking. Omuraisu and such, she’s made me so many things, I’m grateful!”

Dear Shige,
You’re a really smart kid. So the role of a lawyer is really suitable for you!

From DV to sexless, this story paints the worries of today’s young people. Nishikido (NEWS, Kanjani∞) plays a government worker who’s the violent boyfriend of Nagasawa Masami’s character. “Watching the very scenes I acted is scary, and I’m told “You’re the worst!” by the female costars (laughs). It’s not that he’s hateful, but what he’s going is something definitely wrong. I think me acting this role has meaning if the amount of people committing DV goes down even a little bit”.

The two of them on set are very calm. “We talk about what music artists we like and such. Though normally I’m shy around strangers so don’t end up talking until filming is done.”

Shigeaki Kato (20)

Dear Uchi,
Looking at your drama poster I thought “He’s doing his best” but I won’t lose either!

You said “That’s really not true” but you really are S (laughs)

Kato Shigeaki (NEWS) acts in Ueto Aya’s (22) drama Hokaben, which means fresh new lawyer. He’s actually a third year student in the Aoyama University Law Department, “I had thought it’d be nice if I got a lawyer role but to think it would come when I was still in school! I’ve even gone to courthouses for reports before. In the drama if the law related points are too technical then it will be hard for the audience to understand so I have both general and law related acting”, he says using both his school and work experiences.

“I gotta show that even new lawyers can be reliable” he says, while practicing his character and looking great. Today they’re filming a tense scene between his character and a senpai lawyer his character respects played by Ryou (35).
